Objective

A: Gerontological nursing 2,5 cr
- You understand the key values, ethical principles and starting points in gerontological Nursing
- You understand the meaning of home care and services, technology in ageing and the multiprofessional cooperation in gerontological nursing
- You are able to assess, promote and support health, wellbeing and functional capacity of older people based on individual resources
- You are able to plan and implement care and services supporting independency and autonomy of older people.
- You are able to identify vital challenges and special issues in gerontological nursing.

B: Geriatrics 0,5 cr
- You know common illnesses and diseases of older people, how they are diagnosed and treated.
- You understand the main changes and characteristic of morbidity in ageing
- You understand the evaluation of functional capacity and comprehensive geriatric assessment of older people
- You understand the basics and the challenges of medication and pain management for the elderly
- You are able to assess nutrition and nutritional state of older people.

C: Oncological Nursing 1cr
- You know most common cancers
- You understand the importance of prevention in the development of cancer
- You are able to use appropriate nursing intervention for cancer patients

D: Palliative Nursing 1 cr
- You know the key concepts of palliative care
- You know the meaning of the advance care plan
- You learn to recognize the patientĀ“s need for palliative care and end of life care
- You are able to use appropriate nursing intervention for palliative patients
- You learn to meet and support the dying patient and his/her family
