Objective

This course will give you understanding how imperfections in parts as they are manufactured, and in assemblies as they are put together, affect the capability of a product to meet customer expectations. You will get understanding how sources of variation in part dimensions and assembly constraints propagate across parts and assemblies, and how that total variation affects the capability of a design to achieve its design requirements within the process capabilities of manufacturing organizations and supply chains.Kurssin opetuskieli on suomi mikäli kurssilla ei ole vaihto-opiskelijoita.

Content

Students in this hands-on, self-motivated program will work in small teams to design, build, and test projects that blend engineering and science. The workshop builds on students' math, science, and artistic abilities and will use basic principles of engineering, problem solving, and design. Short lessons on interesting topics will add to the project-based experience: (Projektityö, jossa suunnitellaan, simuloidaan (CAD/CAM, FEM) ja valmistetaan konetekninen laite)Tolerance Technology: Definitions of tolerance and tolerance chains, impact of specifying tolerances on manufacturing, manufacturing strategies. (Tolerointi valmistuksen ja tuottavuuden näkökulmasta)Fundamental concepts in designing precision mechanism by using tolerance analysis software. It provides product development teams with the insight required to confidently release designs to manufacturing. Precise calculation of surface sensitivities exposes the critical-to-quality dimensions in the assembly. (Toleranssianalyysit CETOL ohjelmiston avulla)Advanced mathematical solutions. Tolerance analysis solution accelerates optimization to achieve robust designs ready for manufacturing (Toleranssien optimointi valmistuksen ja tuottavuuden näkökulmasta)
