Objective

You understand how Finnish and other Nordic societies function and the role of business in them. You can plan and implement measures related to business start-up and development. You are able to seek assistance from various authorities and organisations in setting up and developing a business.

Teaching methods

On this course the student learns about the laws, rules and regulations that affect citizens of the Nordic Countries. Also the operating framework for companies and other organisations in the Nordic countries is presented.

Through lectures, individual assignments and group work, a comprehensive understanding of Nordic countries as a place to live and work is formed. Finland as one of the Nordic countries and a member of the European Union will become more familiar.

How to work succesfully in the service of a Nordic company is one of the course themes. GDPR, safety, security and equality are also among the topics presented on the course.

Student workload

Contact teaching 30 hours, project work 15 hours, self study tasks 13 hours, literature and other materials 10 hours, oral presentations 10 hours, assesment and feedback 2 hours. (3 cr = 81 hours of student work load).
