Objective

You are able to participate in the development work of a company in accordance with the principles of Lean Six Sigma. You are able to identify opportunities for improving operating methods. You are able to solve practical problems with the help of Lean Six Sigma tools and methods. The aim is for you to be able to participate in a small-scale development project implemented according to the Lean Six Sigma DMAIC method.

Content

- The basics of the DMAIC method according to the Six Sigma development project
- Lean Six Sigma thinking and operations basics
- Selection and assignment of a development project
- Description of the current process and operations
- Measurement and collection of information which is related to development work
- Describing the collected data with the help of graphs and finding out the basic statistical indicators
- Calculation of the process capability index, formation of the control chart
- Making the development ideas of root causes and idea prioritization
- Testing the selected ideas

Materials

Material on the moodle. ISO 13053 standard (we are checking out the standard during the cource). The Green Belt Memory Jogger-book.

Teaching methods

Contact teaching, practical exercises, tasks, exam self learning, group working.

Student workload

5 credits correspond 135 hour total workload.

H-5

Assessment methods and criteria

Number grade 0 - 5. All tasks needs to be done. Exercises and exam are giving tolta points.
Collect at least 50 % get grade 1.
Collect at least 60 % get grade 2.
Collect at least 70 % get grade 3.
Collect at least 80 % get grade 4.
Collect at least 90 % get grade 9.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student is able to use key/individual concepts and demonstrates his/her mastery of the basic knowledge of the competence area.
The student is able to act appropriately when solving simple problems, although the activities can be groping. The student is able to follow the instructions and solve basic tasks.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student is able to consistently use concepts and demonstrate that they have mastered the basics of the competence area.
The student is able to choose appropriate ways to model simple problems with the topic. The student is able to solve basic tasks. The student is able to apply his/her competence in basic tasks.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to use the things, terms and concepts discussed during the course expertly and combine them into entities.
The student is able to apply his/her competence in different tasks and situations.
