Objective

After completing the course, you will understand the concept of multiple use of forests and how it is perceived throughout Europe. You will have skills and experience of multicultural teamwork. In addition, you will understand different means of using forests for, for example, recreation, energy, food and ecosystem services. You will understand what kind of conflicts may arise from the different stakeholder’s needs for land use.

Content

During the virtual phase, the students will look into their own country’s multiple use of forests in groups to form a basis for understanding the issues in a wider context. Lecturers and experts will provide short introductory lectures on the topics followed by field visits to the respective operation sites. During the course, multidisciplinary groups will work on a challenge posed in the context of multiple use of forests and present their findings.
