Objective

After the course you will:
• will understand the basics of bioeconomy and its meaning to national economies
• be able to innovate, develop and discover solutions
• be able to make use of the tools of bio- and circular economy development and methods as part of the innovation process
• have experience of working in a multicultural, multidisciplinary team

Content

The course content includes:
• the concept of bioeconomy
• product design and innovation methods

Location and time

The course is implemented online with individual, self-paced lectures in November and an intensive part 13.-15.12. Participation in the intesive parts requires you to submit the assignment based on the preliminary part by 9.12.

Teaching methods

The course is an online course in two parts:
1) Preliminary phase with recorded lectures that can be viewed at your own pace in November, an assignment based on the lectures
2) Intensive part implemented as an online Hackathon 13.-15.12.

The lectures provide basic information about bioeconomy as a background to the hackathon. The Hackathon consists of sessions on innovations and innovation methods, descriptions of the materials to be used in the Hackathon and group work in multidisciplinary, multicultural teams.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Submission of individual assignments fulfilling the assignment criteria.
Participation in the Hackathon as part of a group and submission of the final output.
