Objective
This course is available for UEF and Savonia UAS students only.
After the course, you will be able to innovate, develop and discover solutions to the company’s bio- and circular economy challenges in multidisciplinary groups and make use of the tools of bio- and circular economy development and methods as part of the innovation process.
Content
The course content includes circular economy, innovations as well as working with stakeholders.
Location and time
The course will be implemented online. Lectures and joint sessions are held between 15 and 18 Eastern European Time.
Teaching methods
The CircularBio Innovations Hackathon course (2 ECTS) consists of participation in the CircularBio Innovations Hackathon. The Hackathon is implemented as an eight-day event, with lectures, coaching and group work during 4.4.-11.4.2022 between 15 and 18 (EEST), also during the weekend. You will receive coaching and guidance throughout the process from our working life partners and staff members from the organising universities and our partner universities.
Hackathon cases may contain topics on waste management and reduction of waste in industrial operations, recycling and sustainbale community development.
The training is intended for students from any disciplines that are interested in cooperating and developing the bio- and circular economy in their respective fields.

This course is implemented jointly by Karelia UAS, Savonia UAS and the University of Eastern Finland.
Evaluation scale
H-5
Assessment methods and criteria
The course is evaluated on a scale of 0-5, where 5 is excellent, 1 is satisfactory and 0 is failed. The evaluation of the course is based on the jury evaluation of the Hackathon presentation and its content (25%) and the lecturer evaluation of the presentation and its content (75%).
The evaluation criteria are:
* the definition of the problem
* novelty of the solution
* suitability of the solution to the defined problem
* justification of the solution based on research knowledge
* presentation of the solution
