Objective

In this course we are going to examine whether the energy transition is a threat or an opportunity for the bioeconomy sector. The aim is to focus on the solutions and look for the opportunities offered by the energy transition for the bioeconomy sector. Course will concentrate on:
• Importance of energy in the bioeconomy
• Fair and sustainable energy transition
• Possibilities of the energy transition for the bioeconomy sector
• Utilisation of the PESTE analysis as a tool for future forecasting

Content

- You understand the concept of the energy transition and the societal mechanisms affecting on the back ground.
- You recognise the importance of energy and energy transition as a part of bioeconomy.
- You are able to define the role of the bioenergy in energy transition.
- You are able to apply your knowledge in the renewal of energy supply systems.

Teaching methods

In this course we are going to examine whether the energy transition is a threat or an opportunity for the bioeconomy sector. The aim is to focus on the solutions and look for the opportunities offered by the energy transition for the bioeconomy sector. Course will concentrate on:
• Importance of energy in the bioeconomy
• Fair and sustainable energy transition
• Possibilities of the energy transition for the bioeconomy sector
• Utilisation of the PESTE analysis as a tool for future forecasting

During the study period, the theme is reviewed through versatile materials which are collected on the Moodle platform. Previous and new knowledge will be deepened through learning tasks.

Student workload

2 credits corresponds to 54 hours of studying time, which is divided into learning tasks and studying of the materials.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Pass: Learning tasks of the course have been completed in accordance with the instructions. Student has achieved the learning goals of the course.
Fail: Learning tasks of the course have not been completed in accordance with the instructions. Student has not achieved the learning goals of the course.
