Objective

You are able to communicate orally and in writing in working life situations, for example in negotiations and meetings. You manage documents related to job applications. You are able to follow the given English instructions and give instructions yourself in English at work. You are able to use environmental related literature to increase your professional knowledge.

Content

Job application and CV, job interview, working environment of environmental technology, negotiation skills, meeting practices, reporting, environmental vocabulary, oral and written assignments.

Teaching methods

The student can communicate effectively in speaking and writing in professional circumstances and in academic situations. The student can apply for a job in English and persuade the receiver by speaking and writing in job interviews, meetings, reports, process descriptions, and presentations. The student can utilise, summarise, and evaluate professional literature effectively.
Integration to other courses in energy and environmental engineering and Finnish reporting. Academic English.

Contact teaching, active participation, interaction during the course, assignments (spoken and written).
Written exam at the end of the course.
Smaller Moodle tests are possible during the course. Groupwork.
Tuition is given according to the given schedule.

Exam schedules

A written exam at the end of the course and assignments (spoken and written) during the course. Two subsequent resit exams after the course has ended.
