Objective

Student knows the quality criterias for different types of biomass fuels and more specifically wood derived fuels to be utilized in different energy production installations. Student masters basics of combustion chemistry, solid fuel gasification and combustion technologies. Student masters different techniques in controlling fluegas emissions in regards to energy production.

Content

- Combustion theory, combustion of solid, liquid and gaseous fuel, fluegas calculations.
- Combustion technology, ash formation, solid and gaseous emissions.
- Properties and classifications of fuels.
- Fluegas cleaning.

Teaching methods

The course is implemented as project studies.
The aim is to develop: Teamwork skills, problem-solving skills, self-initiative and self-direction, the ability to learn and adopt new things, to adapt to new situations.
